Next up is someone we saw for the first time last year and can’t wait to see her again, and that’s Lolly Jones: I Believe in Merkels at Assembly Roxy – Downstairs at 20:00 on Thursday 22nd. Whilst Jan Ravens may give the perfect vocal impression of Theresa May, Lolly Jones gives us a truly hilarious physical caricature – as she presumably will for Angela Merkel and many others. Huge fun as always… if you’ve seen Ms Jones before you know exactly what to expect; if she’s new to you, you’ll probably enjoy it just a bit more, because there wasn’t anything *that* new in this show. Very enjoyable nonetheless!

In these troubled times we can’t have too much political satire and I’m hoping this show is going to overflow with it. I’ve never heard of Lolly Jones but her awkward burlesque promo photograph was all I needed to give this show a chance – I reckon it will be either equally awkward or absolutely sensational. Hilarious and inventive mix of satire and burlesque. Where else will you find the Prime Minister pleasuring herself with an EU flag? Escapist nonsense that makes the world of politics look not quite so terrifying!
