The Edinburgh Fringe One-Weeker 2018 – Present and Correct, 24th August 2018

I’m afraid we have form for not making it in to this early morning show, Dead Duck Productions’ Present and Correct, at Mint Studio @ Greenside @ Infirmary Street, at 10:20, Friday 24th. Here is the blurb: “Present and Correct, the University of York’s superb sketch troupe are heading back to the Fringe with an all new smash show. Featuring writing and performances from the finest up and coming talent, this is one sketch show you won’t want to miss. Described as ‘seriously funny’ (EdFringeReview.com) and ‘punchy, relevant and entertaining’ (Nouse), this is the perfect way to start your Fringe day!”

We saw the Present and Correct team in 2016 and it was a very funny way to start the day; but we aimed to see them last year and simply couldn’t get up and out early enough. Fingers crossed for this year, as this is a fast moving and funny sketch show performed by a very likeable bunch of young people. Check back around 11.30am to see if we made it. By then the next preview blog should be available to read too.

I’m afraid we didn’t make it. I set the alarm at the wrong time. My bad. Soz.

The Edinburgh Fringe One-Weeker 2017 – Present and Correct, 23rd August 2017

If we stayed up very late last night then I’m wondering if we’ll quite make it for our first show today, Dead Duck Productions’ Present and Correct, at Space 1 @ Laughing Horse @ Vic St Coffee Co, at 10:45 am, Wednesday 23rd. Here is the blurb: “Present and Correct are back once again for another hilarious run at the Edinburgh Fringe! We return with an all-new show packed full of this year’s latest and greatest sketches which are guaranteed to keep you laughing! We all know it wouldn’t be the Fringe without our side-splittingly funny performance to start your morning right, so head on down to Vic St Coffee Co.”

I hope we do make it, because we saw the Present and Correct team last year and it was a very funny way to start the day. Fast moving and funny sketches performed by a very likeable bunch of young people. Check back around midday to see if we made it. By then the next preview blog should be available to read too.

Gentle reader, you definitely should go see Present and Correct because it’s very funny. However, our late night means that we’re not going to make the show after all. Sorry about that. Try again next year!

The Edinburgh Fringe One-Weeker 2016 – Present and Correct, 21st August 2016

So that was Saturday, here comes Sunday! For our first show of our second day, we’re starting with something (hopefully) funny, Present and Correct, produced by Dead Duck Productions at the Laughing Horse @ City Café, Blair Street, at 11:15am on Sunday 21st. Here’s the blurb: “Present and Correct returns for their fourth year at the Fringe, following a five-star show in 2015! Have you ever wondered what life is like for the stripper inside a cake? Ever wanted an owl that corrects grammatical mistakes? Or wanted to learn to drive on a space-hopper? Maybe you just want to see someone rant about a plastic kettle on Antiques Roadshow. This show has got it all! Get ready for original, energetic, and downright hilarious sketches from Present and Correct, as they bring you a masterpiece of sketch comedy – it’s not to be missed!”

I must say I like the sound of all those sketches! We’ve not seen Present and Correct before but it sounds like they’re very original in their material. I’ve tried to find out a bit more about the people behind it – but to no avail! Check back around 12.30 to see if we laughed and by then the preview blog for tomorrow’s second show should be available to read too.

Post-show update:

A really likeable sixsome of young performers give us a very fast and pacey sequence of sketches, nearly all of which gave us great laugh out loud moments, or if not left a nicely uncomfortable lump in your throat – the Happy Days healthcare system sketch being a case in point. I particularly loved the idea of the girl in the cake – very clever! A perfect way to start the day – and if they keep coming back to the Fringe I’m sure we’ll see them again!
